Oct 2024: Week 3 Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Did you know? Over 40% of breast cancer cases are linked to genetics. That’s right, family history plays a significant role. 🧬 Understanding this can be a lifesaver. Early detection is your best defense against breast cancer. Tools like mammograms, breast ultrasounds, and biopsies can help identify potential issues early on.Â
Nourish your body to fight cancer. Chemotherapy can make eating a challenge, but good nutrition is vital for recovery.
Here are some tips:Â
- Combat nausea: Choose bland foods such as boiled potatoes, plain pasta, and rusks. Mint or ginger tea can also help.Â
- Soothe sore mouths: Enjoy cold or room temperature soft foods.Â
- Manage metallic taste: Reduce red meat intake and try sour foods.Â
- Prevent constipation: Increase fiber intake and drink plenty of water.Â
- Remember, small, frequent meals can be easier to manage.
Tertiary prevention is addressing trauma while focusing on the long-term impact of violence when untreated. How? Supporting survivors’ reintegration and acceptance into the community and addressing their trauma and long-term medical and psychosocial needs. #WoodlandsDairySA #FortheGoodofAll #genderbasedviolence
